Ohana Farms
Ohana Farms raises livestock on pasture to produce a product that is far superior to any
comparable meat or poultry found in stores. Our meat has rich color, great texture and the
best flavor possible.
When you buy grass-fed at Ohana Farms you are not buying meat. You are investing in a
share of an animal. Ohana Farms raises and cares for your share as well as supervising it's
processing. By owning a grass-fed share, you ensure that you are eating the healthiest, freshest
meat, raised under the best possible conditions.
Healthy Reasons to Eat Grass-fed

Meat, eggs, and dairy products are good for your health. They contain more "good fats" and less
"bad fats". They are richer in essential vitamins and antioxidants.

Grass-fed meat is lower in total fat. Up to 1/3 less total fat than grain-fed meats. Grass-fed lamb can
be 14% lower in fat and 8% higher in protein.

Grass-fed meat is lower in calories. Up to 100 calories per 6 oz. serving.

Grass-fed meat has been shown to help lower LDL "bad" cholesterol levels.

Grass-fed meat can have up to 4 times the Omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed meat.
Omega-3 fatty acids are heart friendly. People with healthy amounts of Omega-3s in their diet less
likely to have high blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, suffer from depression, attention deficit
disorder or Alzheimer's disease and 50% less likely to have a heart attack.

Pastured eggs can have 10 times the Omega-3s, than eggs from caged hens. They are also  lower in
total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, as well as being 30% higher in folic acid and B-12 vitamins.

Grass-fed Meat and dairy products are the richest known source of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid).
CLA is a potent defense against cancer. Women with the highest levels of CLA in their diet had up
to 74% lower risk of breast cancer.

Grass-fed meat can be 4 times higher in vitamin E, which is directly linked to a lower risk of heart
disease and cancer. Deficiencies in Vitamin E  has been linked to diabetes, immune disorders,
muscle damage, Parkinson's disease, eye disorders and lung and liver disorders. Between 40-60% of
all Americans are Vitamin E deficient.

Grass-fed products are rich in lutein. Lutein is a naturally occurring antioxidant that has been
shown to reduce risk of macular degeneration (a leading cause of blindness), and has also been
linked to help prevent breast and colon cancer. Yolks from pastured eggs is the richest known
source of lutein, and meat from grass-fed sheep can be twice as rich in lutein than other meats.

Grain-fed meats are not healthy or safe. Grain-fed beef is 97% lower in Beta-Carotene and 12 times
lower in Omega-3s. Grain fed meats are 29 times more likely to carry the Campylobactor bacteria,
and 315 times more likely to harbor the E-Coli bacteria. Approximately 70% of all antibiotics
made in the USA are given to livestock in grain feeding operations. Because of overuse, up to 95%
of bacteria has become immune to traditional antibiotics such as penicillin.
